Sapphire
Sapphire is a form of corundum and although it is most often blue in colour, it can occur in a range of different colours with the exception of red as this would be considered a ruby.
It is found in alluvial deposits or in pegmatites in many different places worldwide. Cellini has many fine examples of the different colours of sapphire in our Cambridge store and can also source stones upon request.
It is the birthstone for September.
